In the old days, Kaohsiung's economy was dominated by heavy industry and petrochemical industries. Due to serious environmental pollution, limited industrial development, and continuous outflow of talents, Kaohsiung was labeled as outdated and poor. However, in recent years, benefiting from the U.S.-China trade war, many Taiwanese businessmen and businesswomen have returned home. Kaohsiung, where large tracts of idle land are, has become the biggest beneficiary. In particular, the Executive Yuan actively promotes the S-shaped corridor for semiconductor materials in southern Taiwan, extending from Southern Taiwan Science Park all the way to Luzhu, Qiaotou, Nanzi, Dashe, Renwu, and Daliao, and recruits semiconductor materials and equipment, aerospace, medical industry to join the science park hoping to boost economic development and turn Kaohsiung's fate.

Dr. Dar-Jen Hsieh, CEO of ACRO Biomedical, who grew up in Kaohsiung and has been working in northern Taiwan for many years, founded the company 7 years ago and chose to settle in Luzhu, focusing on the economic benefits of the settlement.

I can reach 5 medical centers within 30 minutes, meaning that I can find many strategic partners, including National Cheng Kung University, Kaohsiung Medical University, Kaohsiung Veterans General Hospital, Kaohsiung Chang Gung Memorial Hospital, and I-Shou University. We need someone to use our medical devices clinically, and we can cooperate with these medical centers.”
